Organization profile

Serifos
Year of establishment: 2019
The association has organized lectures on the island’s history, mining activities, and geological evolution, as well as book presentations, activities for children, and more. It has collaborated with the Ephorate of Antiquities, the Municipality of Serifos, the National Technical University of Athens, the University of the Aegean, and local associations on the island. Currently, a multimedia exhibition is on display at the island’s museum, as well as at the Mafra Museum in Portugal, curated by Orestis Karamanlis.
We completed a scientific workshop on the island titled “Following the Tracks.” We organized a symposium in Athens with the aim of establishing a Center for Serifian Studies; the content of this symposium was published as a book and is freely available online.
We were one of the five groups that submitted the request to include Serifos among the 25 monuments to be protected by the World Monuments Fund, and it was ultimately selected!
