Syros - Ermoupoli
Year of establishment: 1983
The Syros Music Society was founded in 1983 in Ermoupoli with the aim of fostering musical education, promoting the island’s culture, and creating a community for people who love choral singing and collaborative creation. Today, more than 40 years later, this mission remains alive, and the Society maintains a steady and active presence in Syros’s cultural life, with initiatives that connect the local community with the broader artistic scene.
We are a multigenerational and multicultural family of 70 members. Retirees, students, workers, private and public sector employees, and digital nomads; Orthodox and Catholics; locals and newcomers—we unite our voices and stories to build bridges. Our vision is simple: to use music as a universal language to strengthen social cohesion and promote culture on our island.
The Syros Music Society has organized a multitude of events, including choral tributes to renowned composers (with the participation of the living composers themselves), such as: Mikis Theodorakis, Mano Hadjidakis, Ilias Andriopoulos, Stavros Xarchakos, Yannis Spanos, Attik, Giorgos Katsaros, and Giorgos Hatzinasios.
