Organization profile

Naxos and Small Cyclades
Year of establishment: 2014
The Naxos Wildlife Protection Association is a volunteer-run environmental organization based in Naxos that serves as a first-aid station for wild animals in the Cyclades. The Association’s mission is to rescue, care for, and reintroduce injured or weakened wild animals, as well as to protect their habitats within the Cyclades’ island ecosystem. At the same time, the Association systematically observes and records the local wildlife, contributing to the collection of valuable data on the biodiversity of the Cyclades. A key area of focus is the protection of sea turtle nests, as well as the development of a Network for the Protection of Sea Turtles in the Cyclades, with visits and educational seminars on six islands to date. Through volunteer initiatives and partnerships with schools and local organizations, the Association promotes environmental awareness and active community participation. In an island region with limited wildlife infrastructure, the Association has been consistently contributing for more than 10 years to nature conservation, providing first aid to wild animals, and fostering cooperation among local communities.
