Year of establishment: 1896
The Association of Serifos, “Association of Persons Native to the Island of Serifos,” was established on November 27, 1896; its bylaws were approved by Royal Decree and published in the Government Gazette, Issue B’ 26 of May 29, 1897. Over the course of its long history, the Serifos Association has carried out activities worthy of admiration in all areas, both those stipulated in its bylaws and beyond. The Association’s Boards of Directors, with the support of its members and friends, have selflessly contributed to meeting the needs, promoting the homeland, and advancing its development. For this long-standing and multifaceted work, it was honored:
A. By the Academy of Athens in 1995, upon reaching its 100th anniversary.
B. By the Municipality of Serifos in August 2007
C. By His Eminence Dorotheos II, Metropolitan of Syros, Tinos, and the surrounding islands, with the medal of the Holy Metropolis, in November 2007.
1. Daily publication of the newspaper SERIFOS.
2. Establishment and operation of a Folklore Museum in Serifos.
3. Establishment of a blood bank with two blood drives per year.
4. Publication of books on the subject of Serifos.
5. Establishment of a Dance Group with numerous performances throughout Greece.
