It was founded on the island of Paros in 1978, by a small group of active “ladies” and “young women” who worked with love and dedication, achieved their goals, and ensured the widespread participation of women in the initiatives they undertook.
As an association with an elected board and approximately 200 active members, it continues to this day to operate creatively and on a large scale, to march alongside today’s women, to combat complacency, and to embody the concept of “belonging.”
For 48 years, it has been engaged in, caring for, and contributing to:
Education, development, and entertainment, through themed talks, events, presentations, exhibitions, the creation of a theater group (which has been a member of the Aegean Amateur Theater Federation since 2019) and a choir, creative workshops (crafts, ceramics, etc.), fitness classes, hiking, organization of multi-day excursions in Greece and abroad, day trips and tours of cultural interest, establishment of a lending library and subsequent donation of the books to schools in the village, organization of two conferences that served as the basis for the establishment of the Federation of Women’s Associations “The Daughters of the Cyclades,” whose honorary headquarters are in Naoussa, Paros, as well as for hosting the annual Pan-Cycladic Conferences of Women’s Associations. Additionally, participation in the governing bodies of OSYGY from its founding to the present day.
She collaborates with organizations such as OPAS, OSYGY, OETHA, the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, the Cyclades Preservation Fund, and Clean Blue Paros
The women of the Naoussa Paros Women’s Association
do not rest on their laurels; they continue to this day to act collectively
and invite every woman, regardless of age, religion, or ethnicity,
to join them in the common effort for a better, creative, and peaceful life.
