On the occasion of the painting exhibition organized by the Municipality of Syros-Ermoupoli to commemorate the struggle for women’s rights, the Observatory represented by Kyriaki Kyritsi and Konstantina Kourkoumari had the honor and pleasure to participate with the speech “The Heroine of the modern era through the findings of the surveys of the Social Inclusion Observatory”.
During the speech, reference was made to the difficulties that women face even today in the labor market, combining professional and family life, as well as their small representation in the political life of the country. In addition, issues of concern to society were mentioned, such as the rise of gender and domestic violence and the lack of appropriate social services to deal with this phenomenon. In this sense, the need to support and empower women of all ages to achieve their goals was emphasized, as well as the need for their greater participation in the community. The importance of education for the woman, as an individual, but also for the wider society, was also highlighted.
The Observatory concluded this brief presentation by stating that despite the obstacles women face either in their professional or family life, they ultimately manage to successfully combine their multiple roles, breaking down stereotypes and building a better future for both themselves and their families. Achieving the above goals makes women “heroines of the modern era”!
The Observatory would like to thank the Municipality of Syros – Ermoupoli for the invitation and congratulate all the participants on their great work. We would also like to thank the newspaper “Koini Gnomi” for the further communication of the work of the Regional Observatory of Social Inclusion.
