In a modern and changing society, with successive economic, social, health and inflationary crises, women are called upon to assume multiple and demanding roles.
This year’s women’s day is overshadowed by the heavy mourning for the country. However, as a tribute to the struggle for women’s rights, it is worth noting that Greece, in line with international and European conventions, recognized for the first time on 29/01/1983 equal rights for women, with the aim of eliminating any type of discrimination and inequalities at the expense of the female sex.
Even today, despite the important steps that have been taken, a woman is forced to try twice as hard to achieve professional, salary and social success compared to a man (Gender Pay Gap).
Despite the obstacles, women – working or not – through their education and professional recognition have managed to strengthen their position in modern society, breaking down stereotypes to a great extent, and successfully combine many roles at the same time.
The Social Inclusion Observatory is participating in the event organized by the Municipality of Syros-Ermoupoli on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 6pm (Vati Hall).
