As part of its on-site research, the Regional Observatory of Social Inclusion visited Serifos on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, and conducted interviews with the Mayor, Mr. Revinthi, and the Vice President of the Serifos’ Friends Association, Ms. Eleftheria Psarrou.
Mr. Revinthis spoke about the youth, noting that during the tourist season there are jobs for everyone, while in winter there is no unemployment. He emphasized efforts to find solutions to extend the tourist season. High rents and difficulties in finding housing are driving many young people to migrate. Among the municipality’s immediate plans is the creation of a daycare center, and there are sports fields available for athletic activities. Additionally, the Municipality of Serifos has scheduled future projects for water supply, biological treatment restoration, and energy upgrades of municipal buildings.
Ms. Psarrou spoke about the association’s work, which, through its activities, focuses on the protection of Serifos’ environment and monuments, the promotion of culture, and the development of the local economy.
The Observatory thanks the Municipality of Serifos for their cooperation and contribution to the research, as well as all the participants.
