The Social Inclusion Observatory in the Municipality of Tinos

On Monday 06/07/2026, the Social Inclusion Observatory visited the Municipality of Tinos and conducted interviews with the staff of the Community Center, Ms. Desylla Malamatenia and Ms. Papagiannopoulou Antonia, the Secretary of the Association of Friends of the Tinos Health Center ‘N. Kongos’, Ms. Dellatola Ioulia, as well as the social worker of the Social Pharmacy, Mr. Delatolas Antonios.

 

Initially, the Community Center staff highlighted the high vulnerability level of residents in the island’s remote areas, who are mostly elderly and living alone, as well as the issue of the need for privacy in social services faced by the Municipality. Furthermore, they mentioned, among other things, their efforts to upgrade the lending library.

 

For her part, the Secretary of the Association of Friends of the Tinos Health Center ‘N. Kongos’ referred to their multifaceted work, the challenges they face, and their primary goal, which is to ensure the smooth operation of the Health Center, achieved through improving healthcare for the island’s residents and visitors.

 

The staff member of the Social Pharmacy referred to the work and operation of the facility, emphasizing its goal to provide free pharmaceutical care to those in need based on specific criteria. Additionally, he highlighted important issues, such as the need for a pharmacist at the facility, medicine waste, and the eco-friendly management of unused pharmaceuticals.
